Declawing sounds like grooming. It is surgery: amputating the last bone of every toe, the equivalent of cutting a human finger at the knuckle. It causes chronic pain, litter-box problems, and biting, which is why cats who get declawed for the furniture often lose their homes anyway.
New York banned it. Most Canadian provinces banned it. Over a dozen countries banned it. Most of North America still allows it as an add-on service.
We demand a ban on elective declawing in every US state and every remaining province.
53 million cat households. If even a fraction of us says this out loud, the practice ends. Say it.
